Week 25- Y2- #YOLO show week

We did a little devising piece today. It was different and really nice to work on as I always want to be improving my devising skills. We got into groups and then we were given a piece of paper. The paper had a story on it that we would need to either make it into a Jeremy Kyle show or make it as if we were acting out the story in the past. I was with Sienna and our stimulus was called 'My sister is a thief'. The sister used to invite her family over a lot, but each time things kept on ending up missing. Specifically earrings. She then later finds out that It's her sister after years of it happening. So me and Sienna still had a lot to make up. We want it to be a Jeremy Kyle show so that's what we did. I played the sister who stole the earrings and we named her Ellie, then Sienna played the sister whose earrings were getting stolen and her name was Belle. And then we both played Jeremy Kyle whilst the other played the sister. We made them be these chavy British girls. We made it to also me comedic, it was a really good way to start the day and great to refresh my mind. Later that day we did #YOLO. It didn't go too well. I don't understand how people can't concentrate. I'm not going to say any names but there are just certain people that won't listen and just mess around. Because of this Kane is going to watch us do a whole run through tomorrow, which I'm glad as this will make people concentrate but it shouldn't have led to that.

Full day of #YOLO rehearsals today. I'm glad we got to concentrate on it all day. We also brought our costumes in today so some of us did it in that. I have three overall. One for scene one. It's summer so were all wearing summer dresses. I have a cheerleader costume for scene three, and then I have an oversized jumper and bicycle shorts for scene 10. Today went A LOT!! better, thankfully. It went pretty smoothly and we got good feedback from Kane. By Thursday I'm positive that it will be at it's best. For my scenes I'm confident. I've worked on them a lot, and I'm happy. One thing I would overall say is that the extras need to bring more energy on stage. It really drugs everyone down if there's others on stage not reciprocating the same amount of energy. Everyone was off script today too so that was good, although they did have to get prompted now and then but it's a lot better than last week.

Since our show in Sunderland is on Friday, we spent the day rehearsing 'Old Times'. It was a bit annoying because the theatre was in use nearly all day. We didn't get started till late. We only got to do a few scenes in the theatre, the rest we had to do in 225, which really wasn't ideal. It was a tiny space so it was very crowded and we didn't have much movement. Apart from that we added a few things which has made our show even better. During scene 11 when the parents call us out we had it so that we could only hear their voices, they'll now be on stage. We also added more lines for the parents, which adds more pressure on Tom Joy. When the Judge comes out and talks we walk over to our parents and see Tom getting sentenced then we walk of stage. It just adds so much as it shows us all looking at Tom and doing nothing about it. Just ALL eyes on him.

#YOLO show day!! we all came in at one today since our show isn't till 7. We started by blowing up some balloons and taping them together for scene 3. After the props and set was all ready we got changed and did a full costume run through. I think that it went well, however I noticed a lot of things that could be improved. Me and Emie sat at the front when our scenes were over and wrote some notes. Here were some:
Scene 1:
-More enthusiasm from the extras
-Don't talk as fast
Scene 2:
Scene 3:
-A lot more energy needed from the Extras
-Projection from everyone
-The scene between Henry and Jamie needs to be brought up stage
-Quicker paste
-More movement- walk around it's a party!
Scene 4:
I really like how this scene went, you can really see the chemistry!
Scene 5:
-Rebecca's voice needs to be less screechy as we can't make out what she's saying
-Rebecca needs to act more worried- She just found out her brother could die
-Mark needs to stop making it as big/ his movements are very unrealistic.
-Rebecca needs to stop looking at the ceiling
-Mark needs to make a lot more eye contact- he's looking at the floor a lot which is fair enough but he's about to loose his girlfriend who he loves
-A lot more emotion needs to be portrayed from Mark- Kadie needs something to work off.
Scene 7:
-Jamie and Henry need to be louder and also need to react a lot more- kinda just stood there
-Mark needs to be a little more irritated
-Quicker paste
-Geoffrey, sometimes you need to be a bit more annoyed at Mark
-Should come on already drunk
- Less choreographed, just dance like your'e drunk- kinda sway-e
Scene 9:
-Same notes as scene 5 really....
-Mark looks a little animated, needs more natural movement.
Scene 10:
I really like how this scene went!
There was a lot more but I can't remember what they were as I wrote them somewhere else.
Evaluation: It was hard to say how it went overall as I'm only in three scenes but the ones I was in felt good! I think that everyone showed the group's friendship really well. Lines went smoothly and reactions were good. From what I saw I think that the extras could have brought a little more energy but it wasn't too bad!. I really like how scene one went from my part. In scene three, the sofa wasn't put on properly so there was a gap in the middle. I tried to sort it out but I couldn't fix it completely so I was hanging off haha, but no one noticed so it's fine! I still think projection could have been better and the scene between Jamie and Henry could have been brought up stage a little more. Coming off stage from scene three was bloody terrifying. We couldn't see a thing so we just walked into the curtains for ages, but we managed at the end. Scene 10 I LOVE!. It felt so real. and so sad :( I'm happy for everyone especially Mark because I know that this show was really bug for him.
