Week 11-Y2

Tomorrow we are performing in the Globe for the Christmas fest. So the first thing we did was get our costume sorted out for it. My teacher brought a few things that we could wear, we also used a few things from the costume room. We had to try and get our clothing to be from the year 1843, which is why no one really had their own clothes to wear for it. Of course we got our own shoes for it. We then began rehearsing for it. We went through it a few times, since there were people missing and spaces had to be filled out. In the end it looked great. Our show is next week so as soon as we got that over we started rehearsals. Cast one rehearsed all day so I decided to take my cast up into the film studio and we went through the beginning of act 2. This was where Dorothy and the Lion get taken captive by the wicked witch of the east. The winged monkeys are also in this scene and they wanted to rehearse so we focused on them most of the time. After lunch we all went to the Globe to rehearse. It was good to see where were going in and off. We also got to rehearse the last song with Musical Theatre and the HE students. That needed a little more practise since not many people knew what they were doing. But as long as we know when to come on it will be fine.

It’s been quite a productive day today, which I'm really glad about. Everyone has been really switched on, thank God haha, since our show is next week. Tonight we also have to be at the Globe to perform for the Christmas community concert. I was very stressed about this because I really wanted to focus on learning all my lines and learning the scenes inside and out. I think most people felt like this though. Cast One was the main focus for today. This allowed me to focus for myself, which like to do, there and then, as it allows me to focus on the things I'd like to improve on. One of the first things I did was try on the whole Dorothy outfit. I loved doing this, and it got me so excited for the show! There are a few parts to the costume, such as the dress, petticoat, ruby shoes, frilly socks, and then some red ribbons to put in the hair. Here is a picture of how it came out:
After I showed my teacher, who loved it! I got changed and went to lunch. After lunch i spent my afternoon learning my lines. What I do to keep on top of them and make sure I don't forget the ones iv'e already learnt, is that I write them down on some paper, and then I'll read them out loud. After I said the line confidently, I'll repeat it but then I'll add a new line. It's long but It's what has helped me learn my lines the most.
After learning my lines for hours (I stayed at college, as it takes too long to get home then come back to go to the Globe) I made my way to the Globe in my outfit. It felt nervous to go down Stockton dressed as if I was from the 1843, but I was with others, and at the end of the day its Stockton. It was a really good night, and every group preformed brilliantly. I don't understand how people dance or sing! They're just incredible. I;d say that we did an amazing job, and that we don't need to improve anything. The second part to our show, a girl called Jess sang. The only word i can say is WOW. She had to sing on her own, which is so scary, but she has an amazing voice and can act really well. She stole the whole show.

We have a similar process as yesterday mostly. We have another show tonight at the Globe. Cast two rehearsed today, this gave me another chance to do what I wanted to focus on. We had another performance of the Christmas carol at the Globe. I'd say today went even better than yesterday, it felt neater. It was a great experience, and it taught me a new way of performing. It was the first show I had done that included singing, and some form of dancing/ movement.

We usually come in at 1pm on Thursdays, but the main characters of my cast, were asked to come in at 9:30. I was glad that we were doing this because I really wanted to get everything done. A few of the main characters came in a little later so I started rehearsing on my own. Eventually everyone came in, so we began doing it properly. We got through the whole show. It felt great to finally be able to say that I know what I need to do for all of it now. I could now visualise it all in my head whenever i wanted to go through it. I also knew how I needed to stage things, and where all the props were. It took quite a while to go through act 2 just because it was the first time. But overall we managed to go through the whole of act 2 within a few hours. It was way easier since it is shorter and overall simpler. Through the whole show we are following the yellow brick road so we kind of stuck to going one direction, which made it quite nice and simple. I'm also beginning to learn other characters lines, like just picking them up, which is great. I think its handy knowing there lines because if anyone messes up I can turn it all around and get it going in the right direction. After we went through it all we took a break and My teacher Kelly went through act 2 with cast 1, as they hadn't gone through it before. After I took around a 10 min break I went upstairs into the dance studio and found some cast members from my cast and cast two. We decided to read through some scenes from act 2 that we wanted to focus on. I went through the scene where I kill the wicked witch of the west with Rebecca (My wicked witch of the west). We properly went through it and staged it out properly so that we don't have our back to the audience. After that a lot of the people went home but I decided to go into the LRC and go through some more lines. Eventually I saw my friend and she said that they have been putting fake grass onto the stage! I had no clue that they were doing that so I was sad that I didn't get to help haha. I went in and maybe did one small little thing to help. But WOW my teachers did such an amazing job! the set looks absolutely incredible!!! Here's a large photo of it so that you can also see how wonderful it is.
