Old Times- Sunderland show!!

Old Times- By Molly Taylor

Lets just start this blog post off with how happy I am!! Today went so well and I'm so proud!!!!
We set off at around 9 Am and arrived at the Sunderland fire-station at like 9:40-50. As soon as we got there we got shown the space, then we went to the changing room to get changed into costume so that we could do a dress run as soon as we could. Once we got changed we put our set up and got all the props ready. We also got all the mics put on us! I loved getting them as it was something new, and they made me feel like a professional actor, since they get them due to being on very large stages. We tested them and once they were all set we began going through it. We all agreed that we felt like we were being a little drowned out by how big the stage was. We decided to move it all little forward for the flashback scenes. Lighting and sound was also being sorted whilst rehearsing. There was a certain scene where we went off stage a little weirdly. It was for scene 8 when Tom brings the intestines and heart and we all walk off. We went through that bit again after the whole run through and it looked a lot better. The new bits that we added on Wednesday looked great! Some people hadn't gone through it yet, so we spent most of our time on that scene/area, by the end it looked great!. Lighting for that scene was also a little more complicated so we took some time on that.  After working hard we had a break and we went around Sunderland a little bit. We came back to our room quite early, so me and my friends played some games such as, charades, and then the game where you say a word and then the next person says another word that links on to that. It was a good warm up. Afterwards the whole class played some warm up games. We did new ones that we hadn't done before and they were really fun and got us thinking and acting quickly! a great warm up before the show. They bought us some dominoes! So we got to eat something, then we all went up and got ready. We all put our costumes on and people that needed to did their makeup. The other people performing today did their show first. I think that they did amazing! I wasn't a massive fan of the script but they really did do a good job for it. At the end I went and congratulated them, they were all really lovely and there was a good set of actors there! So then it was us....
IT went FABULOUS! I'm so happy with how it turned out. I think that it was the first full run through of Old Times that I actually felt like I did well, which must be a sign. Everyone else also thought that it was the best one that we have done so far. It was flawless. The transitions were smooth, there was never an awkward beat, lines were presented well, the right emotions were portrayed, It all just went sooo wellll. I'm honestly overjoyed!  On the way back home we also got some great news!! Firstly Lucie from the National said that she was in awe of what had seen tonight, AND THENNNN Kelly was introduced to the representative of the National!!! That is such an amazing sign, OMG I just hope that we make it to London. That would be a dream!
