Week 17- Y2

23/01/23

I had a few things going on today. I had my audition for Unbroken and a chemistry read for Vee. Lets talk about the audition for Unbroken first. I went for Mia. I personally don't think I did that well for it. I think I was more focused on the chemistry reads for connections. there were a few things that I could have done better. Mia in the scene I did today is slagging a girl called Grace off, she's meant to be very blunt and problematic, I feel like I didn't do it 'mean' enough. It overall just didn't feel right.
Moving on to the chemistry reads, I learnt the bulldog scene. I really enjoy this scene as it shows the friendship between Belle and Vee, it also shows how harsh everyone is to Tom especially Vee, Like she starts to call him a Crank and blames Belle's fall on him. After a few rehearsals we showed Kelly. I personally think that it went really well. I love doing connections and I love playing Vee. I really reallyyyy hope I get the role of Vee. She's very different to what I've gone for in the past

After college finished some of us stayed back to join a zoom call with Molly the writer of Old Times. We didn't get to hear to much as the college had to shut but it was really good to talk to her and to see why she wrote what she wrote. There was one thing that really stuck to me and it was that Molly said that she doesn't even know who actually was the black figure, so in the end it really is all up to us!

We ran through the scenes where Lucy and Jack brake up in #YOLO today. i got to help direct since I'm not in these scenes. I overall really liked how natural they made it. Some feedback I gave them was to slow down, in some parts they spoke very quickly. In one area she kind of starts to laugh at the shock, but it needed to be brought down a notch and really show the shock of it, but overall for the first run through it was really good. We added a few more things into it and by the end of the lesson it looked great! The college then took us too Ice Skating, it was great!

I really enjoyed today, we began rehearsing a new part of connections. It was scene 11. This is where the younger's start to film their short film in the Antisense house. It was a little stressful at first because we had to figure a few things out but after we got into it it began looking really good. Morgan really helped to liven it up. He just kept on telling us to add more energy and he was right. The more energy we added the better it started to look. We need to remember that they are a group of kids who are doing something they shouldn't be, so they are excited and have a lot of adrenaline. One thing that Morgan added which was really important was that we were doing something that could potentially get us in trouble. So when we enter the abandoned house, we should be a bit worried and some of us should look back to make sure that no one saw us come in. Someones line is, "Someone saw us come in you know", so at that point we worry and panic a little so we look around, but only a few of us, as some just brush it off as they are less worried. Vee in this scene is VERY sassy. She wants to be in the lead and feels like she has to be in control of the film. She shouts at Tom to get the costume on and that if he doesn't she'll 'recast' him. After that Tom throws the costume at her and she gets quite mad. I loved doing that scene. Well at first people kept on saying that I needed to do it faster as it should be a snappy scene, which I understood, but it was hard because I didn't know my lines for it. At break I quickly learnt my lines so that I can focus on my actions rather than trying to find my lines in the script. After that it looked so much better because I was fully concentrated on my characterisation and where I needed to go, and my facial expressions. I think today really showed Vee's personality. It was a great rehearsal!
after today's lesson we went and did a lesson for #YOLO. We decided what days were going to rehearse for it. Were now going to be doing #YOLO on Monday's afternoon Tuesday mornings, Wednesday afternoon's, and all of Thursday, So we will be doing a few hours of it a week, which is going to really help. We decided that we will start rehearsing from the beginning. If some people aren't in, we will do duologue scenes. So the first scene we rehearse today was scene one. It went really well actually and after staging it we went onto scene 2, this only has Jack and Johnno in it. The only problem we are facing at the moment reallyyy, is our space. It's kind of hard to
rehearse in the film studio as there's not much space, but were good at adapting so that's not the problem, it's just hard to actually set it out. I also found out the cast list for Unbroken. I got a character called Nancy. She's in one scene. I was a little bummed that I didn't get Mia, but I kind of expected it after my audition and also after seeing the other girls audition. This just means that I need to try super hard to get Vee!!

#YOLO all day today! We got through quite a bit today, we said that we would do the
scenes in order but we had a few people missing so we focused on the duologues. The main ones we focused on were the ones with Jack and Josie and the ones with Jack and Luce. These are both very important, and have a lot of emotions in them which need to be portrayed well. Whilst they went through those scenes the rest of us went downstairs with the year ones. They were doing something for Unbroken. There will be two scenes which all of us will be in for the film. One will be a party and the other will be a fight club scene. I learnt something new which was that, in filming when there is a party scene with music in, there actually isn't any music on and they have to dance to nothing. And that's what we're gonna have to do. The fight-club scene we have to act like we were talking. Here's a video we took.
