It's our first day back at college. After learning a new warm up game, we began talking about connections. It felt nice to have a new start to something. We started by reading it, we read up to about page 38. I love this script. So much. It's amazing. Especially compared to the last script. I really didn't like Remote, as you would know from before. This script has so much mystery, and deep emotions, and it's not about global warming, which I like. When I watch a show, I want to see something different, something that will take me out of reality. I believe this show will do just that. There are already a few options that I would love to go for which are the characters: Amma, Vee and Stefi. I like both their younger and older versions so it's going to be difficult making my mind up! There are only 15 characters for this show, and then there's around 40 of us. So there will be a lot of us competing against each other. It will be hard to get the roles we want. We were given some dates for upcoming events: -Auditions on Wednesday the 11th
-Zoom call with writer- 23rd of January
-16th of March- Home performance
-31st of March- Performance at Sunderland Fire Station

Today we began talking about another project. The film project. I may have talked about this before, but Kelly has written a script for Netflix before. Due to COVID etc, it wasn't able to proceed, So now were going to make the pilot episode. The series is about a girl in the North East who is a boxer. The main character is called Jess. We haven't really gotten into any detail about any other characters but there are a few other boxing characters, and other side characters that we will be able to audition for. I'm really excited for this film and would love to be in it, so I'll definitely be auditioning for it. I know that I can't have a main role in both the film and connections but I'll audition for both and I'll see what I get. After talking about the film project we finished reading the other half of the script of connections. It didn't make it any easier deciding which character to go for at all.... but OMG the ending leaves you on a cliffhanger! I find it quit fun though, because it's now up to us how we end it, we can make the ending however we like, depending on how we play the characters. This script is going to be so fun to play with.

So today we began really looking into the connections script. I really enjoyed doing this because I'm starting to see who the characters really are. I got into a group with Adam as we both wanted to learn more about younger Vee, I found out a few new things but I know that there is a lot more behind her from what is written on the script. The first thing we did was make facts of what we see on the script, and then we started putting our opinion forward, We will be finishing this off another day, which then gives us another chance to fully understand the character.

We got to choose if we wanted to do character work on the film or connections. I really wanted to find out more about the film so I ended up choosing the film, but I never read the script before so that's what we did today for the first bit of the lesson. We only read a small segment of it but it allowed me to see what character stuck out to me and to see how it goes. By the end of the lesson a character called Mia stuck out to me. She is a girl who does boxing and she has a sister called Riley who also does boxing. Mia is very Glam and a girly girl, and she has an attitude, her sister is the opposite. Mia looks fun to play so, so far I'll be auditioning for her.

We went back into the groups that we choose from before and began working on the characters from connections again. We answered loads of questions and looed even deeper than what the script tells us. Today was actually so helpful, and I'll be unpicking characters this way from now on because I feel like I know Vee and all the other characters pretty well now, as they also shared what they found out about their characters. We also talked to the people who looked into older Vee which was really handy, and you can really see the character development and what changed throughout the years. Here's some things I found out about young Vee:
♡She does not like Tom, like at all ♡Always calling Tom names
♡Her closest friend is Belle
♡She is wealthy
♡She likes it her way
♡She is Gluten Free
♡Has a phone
♡She wants to film the short film
♡She wants to be in charge of the film
♡Has braces
There was a lot more that I found out, and all those small things are really going to help me to build her character, especially the fact that she doesn't like Tom, now I know how she acts towards him, but also how she is towards others. I believe that she is a brat and I'll definitely be showing that during rehearsal. After today I realised that I really want to go for young Vee! which has made it a lot easier as I can focus on one character now.

Today we got to watch the higher education of acting do a show called, 'Education , Education, Education!'. Let me just start off with how much I loved it! It was absolutely incredible. I loved every second of it. I wish I could watch it again. It was my favourite show that I've seen them do. The acting was great and I loved the comedic side of it, they showed a great range of acting from serious, to comedy. It was something wroth watching!
