Week 10-Y2,

Hello, we had a singing lesson with Tom Guest today. We got a bit of a lecture because some people weren't putting in the work. I personally tried my best. One thing I know that I need to improve on is learning the lines. I only need to learn a tiny bit of it now since I know most of it. We choreographed the last of it and its looking super good! We then added a few lines to it. Charles Dickens and Bert both have a few lines at the begging and middle part pf the performance. Once they have learnt there lines, I'd say that it will end up being great! I tried on the dress for Dorothy on today! It's a little big but we can easily pin and sintch it in.

Today we began working on the little rhythmed chant that we did last week on Wednesday with Tom Guest. We showed our teacher Kane as he hasn't seen them before. Last week I was given a line to do on my own for this chant, "When you come to the Wizards progoda". People weren't listening so I took control and tried to make people concentrate so that we can perfect it. Finally towards the end It was amazing and we showed Kelly. The first thing was that we added Dorothy to it. We added a line for her to say, so that the Munchkins know when to start. This also helped to add movement, as when Dorothy moves to follow the yellow brick road the Munchkins move with her. We were then told that we had to add more movement as they are only small and have a lot of energy. This helped a lot as it didn't look awkward anymore. People are finally gong out of their comfort zone, this always makes things look a lot better since they are more relaxed. We also added Munchkin voices to add more depth into it. After our other teacher, Kelly had seen them and liked it, she told us to begin working on our Ozians. She told us to go in the film studio and work on it together. She asked Kane to pick a leader and they had chosen me. The Ozians are different to the Munchkins, they are less lively and more robotic. They love and worship the Wizard of Oz so much that it becomes there life purpose to serve him. One line was "Yes Master". They condone him in all respect. Whilst saying this line we made it feel as if its droned into their head. Like a command. Whilst going through this we had to go down to the theatre with musical theatre and the HE acting students to go through the community Christmas program that we are performing next week in the Globe. Everyone did an amazing job, and it amazes me how well they can dance and sing. I also believe that my class did really well! Even though we had a few people missing, we still went with it.

I rehearsed as Dorothy all day today! I loved it because I really needed to go through it, and I'm really nervous since we don't have many days left to go through it. We went from the very first scene to the poppy scene. I believe that we all did really well. The most thing that we worked on was another chant. It was like the one I talked about last Thursday, but longer and more complicated. We went through it, talked about who gets what line since it would be a little too much to all talk at the same time for that long. We then also added movement at certain times. These chants are just with the four main casts. It's a chant that tells the audience how they are feeling and what they are about to do. So today's chant that we worked on was about Dorothy, Scarecrow and the Tin-wood-woman (We've established that we are swapping the gender today as Sophie would rather play them as a woman) They talk about going to see the wizard of Oz and how its going to be a long journey but how excited they are. Overall there are 4 chants for the main cast. We all still have to learn and go through the others. This is something that I want to go and focus on with my cast when another cast is rehearsing in the theatre.

Usually on Thursdays we go in for 1pm, but we went my teacher asked us to come in earlier if we could, so I went in at around 9:30. We began painting the yellow brick road!! I loved every bit of it. It just made it feel more real. It also made me realise that we are so close to performing day! It was a little scary haha. It was also a fun day because we all worked together to help turn our stage into the land of Oz. We also painted the boxes black so that it matches. The last thing we did was put up a tree, We used the same tree that we used for connection in year one, but we used fake branches and leaves so that it was not as big. The art and design course have also been making us a lot of pieces such as the tin-mans outfit, A banner saying 'Welcome Dorothy', and some other bits and bobs. Today we mostly focused on getting the painting over with. I have work tomorrow, but I know that some people are going in to finish it off. Milly S was also taken to have the Dorothy makeup tested on her, she looks adorable!
