Week Three- Y2

Today we had a singing lesson. I was honestly quite scared because I can't sing at all! I like to sing for fun but not professionally. I was scared that we would have to sing on our own but we all sang together and it was actually really fun. I would like to get better at singing, but I'd rather do it without my class. Were doing a 15 minute show in the Globe for Christmas, which is a nice opportunity. Were doing a small snippet of the Christmas Carol Muppet's version. It has some singing in it, which is what we practised today. We did some vocal warm ups to get us ready. Here is a small snippet of what we did:

We then began practising the song that we will be singing. Its actually a really fun song to sing. It doesn't mean that I'm good, but with everyone singing  no one can tell :) Ill say that I'm not terrible tho. We then took it further and began choreographing it. This lesson was really different to what we usually do but I loved it! it was so much fun and it was nice to do something different and expand my skills. We already have a scrooge who is a boy named Jamie. The rest of us are the chorus. Ill show you the video here and then talk about it later so that it makes more sense:

As you can see there are a few people at the begging who are in the middle singing on there own. Those people volunteered to sing on there own as they are comfortable to do so. You can see that when Scrooge walks on stage were all scared of him. That's what we do through out the whole show, so that we can show the audience that we are scared and the type of person he is.

We learnt about monologues today. It was really useful to know the information that we got given, as it will really help me to pick a monologue apart. Some things that we talked about were what we need to know about the character. Here are some things that that we need to know as it will help us to understand the character more:
 ♡Past                    ♡Education                          ♡Culture
 ♡Ethnicity              ♡Age                                   Believes
 ♡Gender                ♡Where they live                  ♡Money status(In poverty or wealthy)
These were only some factors that contribute and are important to know about a character. We then got given a task. Our task was to find a monologue and preform it in front of everyone on the 18th of October. The first years have to find a monologue from a film or a TV show. Us second years have to find a monologue for a university or drama school for auditions. I think that I may have found around four plays that I find interesting. I need to read the whole of it to make a final dissension and then I'll find a good monologue from it. Here are the names of them:
♡Watching glory die
♡Propioleption
♡Second skin
♡Aubrey
We then went into the film studio and us second years began talking about a show that we want to direct as part of our assignment. We decided to do a show called #Yolo. It doesn't sound grate, but its actually a really sad show. Its about a boy who is getting ready for uni, and he goes to the doctor to only find out that he has a brain tumour. He doesn't tell anyone so he slowly starts to go insane. At the end his sister finds out and tells everyone. At the end of the show he goes to the doctor to see what is going to happen for it with the support of his friends and sister. We never find out if he lives or dies. We got given some roles. I volunteered for set.

Its lonely hearts day today! I absolutely love this lesson. Its really helped with my improvisation.  My character is Maria as I mentioned in my last weeks blog. Today we got to interact with the other characters of the lonely hearts day. We had to get in the mind space of our characters. We began walking around the room as our characters. I pretended that I was walking to work. My character works as a hairdresser and she likes her job. We had to bring props in for our character, so I brought a small shoulder bag with me. It had a mirror, lip gloss, pen, note pad and a brush in it. These are all the things which I believe my character would carry around with her. We then began talking to the other characters about our job. At the end of the lesson we pretended to be in a dating room. We had to get to know the other characters. We then had to get into little group and do a quiz. It was just a test to see if we could keep our character going. I'd say that I did pretty well. Instead of doing the dear Evan Hansen project, we went into the room 224 and applied for UCAS. This will really help with my application to uni or drama school. I still need to finish it off though.

Today is the day where we look at unis and drama schools. We got given a piece of paper, and on it we had to write our top 10 unis or drama schools that we would like to apply to. We then also had to write down some monologues that we are interested in.  Here are the top[ schools i'd like to go to:
♡The Arden                                  ♡Rada
♡Performers college                       ♡Northampton university
♡Lamda                                       ♡Artsed
♡Lipa

I have found some monologues online:
♡India
♡Covering my ears

I personally really like the monologue called 'covering my ears' but I have to pay to see the rest of the monologue.  I went down to the LRC and found an amazing book filled with monologues. I think that its really going to help.
