Week Two- Y2

Zest theatre came in today. Zest theatre want to help give a voice to young people. So they came in today to get us to talk about what we want to change about the community (Stockton in specific). Some people said that the older generation don't understand younger peoples problems, and that society needs to start to change. I feel as if society is always changing but there are many generations that don't realise that. One thing that we did was go around the room and find a piece of paper with a word on it. There were words like:
♡Family ♡Future ♡Money
♡mental health
I cant remember them all but those were some of them. We choose one that we want to focus on the most this year. I chose mental health. I don't want to go that much into depth about why i chose it, but then we got handed a piece of paper and we wrote down all our feelings and thoughts about the word we choose. I personally thought that it was a really nice experience to finally get some thoughts out that were bottled up.

I loved today's lesson in the theatre, it was so much fun! and has helped me a lot. We first started by doing some warm ups. These warm ups were specific to linking to each other and trying to be in sync. The first one was when we had to lay down and we had to say a number each. If two of us or more say it at the same time we would have to restart. After that we had to get into partners. We had to stare at each. One of us had to try and send a message through brain and the other had to try and guess what it was by kind of having a 'Feeling'. e.g. I would say in my head whilst staring at my partner "Itch your nose". The othe person would try and sense that that's what they are saying and end up itching there nose. Me and my partner got it a few times. afterwards we ended up doing an activity where we got given a piece of paper with a name, age and personal preference/ about them/ what they can bring to the table. I got given a paper with: "Maria, In my 30's, brown haired Spanish senorita looking for friendly English Gent for nights in/ out and romance." I decided that my character is sassy, likes to party, has a chihuahua and loves animals. I'd say she used to try and date but it never worked out so now she doesn't bother, but she would still wish to be in a nice relationship. We went round in a circle and talked as if we were the characters that we were given. It was a great activity to help with our improvisation and help to create a character from only a small amount of information.
after we had a lesson with just us second years. We were given an assignment for this term!
We went to a page in the script of dear even Hansen that we got given last week. We read through a duologue of Evan and his mom having an argument. This argument is really good and sounds so realistic. We got into pairs and went through it a few times. This was one of the best writing for an argument in a play!
After this we then went to 224 and talked about our sic-com. We had to do a few changes to it so that it can make more sense and link. But ill talk about that on a separate blog.
