28/03/2022First thing we did today was act like our 7 year old selves. Since we are doing Blood brothers there are 3 main characters who have to be played as 7 year old. We did some activities to help us try to channel the same energy from when we were 7. The first thing we did was lay down on the floor, close our eyes and think of our favourite games that we played in the playground. Mine were tag and Zombie. You may have not heard of Zombie. Zombie is when you close your eyes and spin around and then try to tag people whilst your eyes are still closed shut. This once caused me to bang into a wooden pole and have a massive cut on my head, but I still loved it. We then had to pretend to be in a class and play some indoor games as kids. We played duck duck goose and Chinese whispers. Everyone was really great and I believe that we can all play it well for the show. Afterwards we began looking at Mickie's monologue. This monologue was for when hes complaining about his age saying how hes nearly eight. We have to try and act as a kid and do a scouse accent. We also have to memorise it all by Monday. Today I learnt a way to help me act in various ages just by trying to remember things from when you were that age. If of course you have to act older than you are now, you have to try and mimic someone you know that age.

Today we got given a booklet containing many facts about Blood Brothers and some about Willy Russel. This has helped me gain a lot more knowledge, allowing me to understand the play a lot more. Some interesting facts that I have learnt today were:
-How much supervision is portrayed in this show. One is when Mrs Jenkins tells Mrs Lions of putting dirty shoes on the table. This superstition stated as many poor people could only afford one shoe and when they pass away they would be given to someone else in the family. A shoe can help to recognise someones identity.
-Willy Russel left school at the age of 15 without any qualifications and became a hairdresser. At the age 20 he went to university and after he left he became a teacher. During this time he wrote songs for performers and radio shows. One of his early plays was about Liverpool pop group the Beatles.
This booklet also talks about the set and some props.
Afterwards we began working on, 'Our Sammy' monologue. I have now memorised all the lines so I did it with a Scouse accent in front of my friends and they said how much I have improved since the last time I showed them my Scouse accent. I have been practising and I think it is working. Now I have to go back to yesterday's lesson and add small details to make it look like I'm a 7 year old. This can be fidgeting, constantly getting distracted and making my voice a little higher. I think that I've already done the voice but I'll still keep working on it.

A man named Carl came in today to talk to us about how he took a break after leaving university. He used to come to this college as well (Stockton Riverside College), and said that even though he took a break, he is now still able to act now. As long as you put your mind too it. He was also so generous and gave us some money to help us to get a coach to get to York. After the talk we went through the whole of Remote. Carl watched us and he gave us some feedback. One that was towards me and the yoga group was that we should try to synchronise our moves. This will help it too look neater and put together. Something I learn today was that even though things can go down hill, you can still make it better if you put in the effort.
