Week Twenty

Happy valentines! Today we went through some of the show again. The feedback we got from today was that some people aren't connecting to there character. The reason behind this is mostly because we are still reading from our scripts. I'm not sure if I'm one of those people, but if I am, then I'll definitely try and learn my lines, which I'm already doing. I'll also try and make it sound more like I'm meditating, if that makes any sense. Such as saying it slowly and calmly. After the second years left we began working on some of the tasks for our assignment. We were able to pick some work that we can do for this show- Remote. I chose marketing along with some of my friends. Marketing will help to advertise our show and will hopefully allow us to get new people interested and come to watch us. My group contains: Me, Sienna, Kadie, Morgan and Courtney. The first thing we did was create a group chat containing everyone including our teacher. This will allow us to communicate and be able to post thing flowingly. We have an Instagram page to help us advertise our course. On this page we will be able to post all the things we need to, to help us gain a larger group. Our first post to promote this show will be the poster for the national theatre connections. And then the post after that will be the poster for our show. In the captions of these post will be explaining what we are doing, and what the national theatre connections are.
Here are some things that we want to post for the next few weeks:
-Rehearsals photos + videos
-Dress rehearsals
-Set updates
-Meet the cast- Introducing who got who
-Ticket links
-A 2 week countdown
-Cast pictures
-Marketing team picture (This is also needed to give to the national theatre connections)
-Posts of the York theatre and location
-The cotumes
-The travel
-Interviews
-Reels
-Q&A's
-Lives
-Makeup room
-Day in the life
-the connections show
Here are some hashtags to go along with some posts: #Srcremote, #Theatre, #Connections2022, #actors, #cast, #act, #acting, #show, #youngtheatre, #nationaltheatrecompany, #Yorktheatreroyal, #westend, #inittowinit, #working, #rehearsals, #learning, #love, #work.

In today's lesson we carried on were we left of on yesterday's in rehearsals. I didn't get to improve on anything but I just want to say how amazing my classmates were today! They got a little bit of feedback and when they tried to do the scene again with the feedback, there act completely changed and they had taken in all of the feedback in. I'm so proud of them! A lot of people also learnt some of there lines today which made there performance a lot better too.

Today we took a bit longer doing warm-up games. We do warm up games everyday to get us ready for the day. I may start to write on my blogger what games we play every morning. Today we played an improvisation game. In this game there has to be someone sitting on the floor, someone standing up and then the other person sitting on a chair. During this game we have to swap positions. But there has to be a purpose to us swapping. This game allows us to learn: Story telling, devising, improvisation, listening and reacting, moving with purpose, preforming to an audience, focus and being in the moment. After we did our warm up we began rehearsing again. My aim was to slightly change my performance. Me and my group decided that we could change our accent to be super posh. It was different and were not really sure if we liked it so we said that we would try it again in our next rehearsal and if we don't like it then we'll change it back to normal.

Today is our writing lesson. We learnt more about screenwriting. We got shown a six word story: "For sale: baby shoes, never warn,". From this we had to guess what this story was about, and nearly everyone said that the baby was a still born. Although its short you can come up with a lot of stuff that could have happened for them to be selling new baby cloths. We the had to write our own six word story based on a bad day and then a wrong day.
A bad day: Forest set on fire, animals lost
The wrong day: I shouldn't have left the house
Afterwords we began learning about screenplay and the writing process. We got given a screenplay format and had to annotate it. Some of the things we annotated onto it was,
Slug line- This tells us whether the scene is outside or inside, where it is and whether its night or day.
Scene direction- This contains the description of the characters actions and events relevant to the story.
Character cue- This will have the name of the character who speaks.
Actor direction- This will tell the actor who the character speaks to and how they should do it
Dialogue- What the character says.
We then had to get into groups and make our own screenplay. We got given a story of the Hitchhiker an urban legend. Everyone had to turn it into a screenplay format. I found some parts hard but with a group it was overall easier that I expected
