Week eighteen

 31/01/2022

Today in class we got right into working on the characters of the show, 'remote'. If we auditioned for two people we had to decide on one character for this task. I decided to pick Desk. My teacher put us into groups. She put Skin's and blister's into separate groups, then Crystal's and Finn's and then lastly Antler's and Desk's. I was put with this amazing actress in my class called Magen. She was playing the role of Antler. For this task we had to improve a made up scene for the two characters. We decided that our improve should be based of after the show. 

Our scene: I as Desk would end up bumping into Antler at the same park that Antler had climbed the tree at for the silent protest. We would be surprised then end up talking about ourselves like how we are doing if I made any friends. 

In this improve scene we showed a good connection between the two characters. Magen in my opinion did an amazing job at being Antler. Antler is a kind heart-ed person who practically had enough of all the stress in her life. She's a character who is going through a lot, and Magen really showed that, by all her facial expressions and her tone of voice. Desk is the youngest character through the whole show, so everyone acted her out to be as this really young and energetic character. When I did my improve I did it very different to everyone else. I didn't make desk too energetic, more just a bit fiddly with her feet ect. I made sure to act them out as super sweet. Everyone today did an amazing job in making the characters their own!

01/02/2022

Today we worked on the show trying to get the roles we want. We got split into groups again. I got paired up with one of my best friends called Sienna who was trying to get the role of Antler. We worked on the scene where Desk is bothering Antler again and asking her where her lost glove could be. I think that we both did a good job in showing the character. After everyone preformed there short scene, we got put into groups again and worked on a different scene. if my teacher saw potential in the character that we were auditioning for.  I got put with someone in my class called Morgan who filled in for Antler. We began working on the scene where they first meet. The whole point of showing these small scenes is to help our teachers decide who to cast for this show. A while later when I got home we got a notification on teams, from our teachers saying who got casted as who. The people who got the main roles are:

-Antler = Magen

-Desk = Rebecca

-Oil = Geoffrey

-Crystal = Charley

-Finn = Emie

-Skin = Kadie

-Blister = Mark (Year 1)

All of these people deserve the role they got! Everyone overall did amazing though. Although I'm not a big fan of the show, I'm still a bit gutted that I didn't get the main part. The person that got chosen for Desk is definitely going to do an amazing job, and I'm SUPER proud of her! The people who didn't get a main role will get to still be in it. We just don't have a named part. 

02/02/2022

Today was our first day properly rehearsing for this show. And I'm really starting to like it now. The first thing we did was work on the lines that aren't labelled by a name. We first came up with two of our own characters. These characters must have a reason to be in the park that all the main characters are in. The first character that will be in the first part of the show is called Laura. Laura is a yoga instructor who is doing yoga and meditation in the park. She is 24 years old. She has two other friends with her called Sydney and Susie. My other character for the second part of the show is called Lilia. She is a 16 year old. She is just a normal kind of hippy like teenager. She hangs around with a group of friends called, Cassie, Aria and Parker. When there on stage they'll just be talking and listening to music. We went through a few pages of the scrip and Kelly began handing out some lines. Me and my friends who are in the Yoga group got a few lines. When we say our lines were saying them as if our character is talking about whatever their doing instead of what the main characters are doing.

We got to see Blood Brothers today! It was the first time I've ever watched a show and I was definitely not disappointed, and I can't wait to watch more. All the actors were so amazing. This show has so much emotion in it, and the actors really helped to display every single one. This show is about friendship, love and family. In this show there are two mums. One mum is super rich and posh she is called Mrs Lyons. The other mum is really poor and has 7 kids, she is called Mrs Johnston.  Mrs Johnston works for Mrs Lyons as a house maid/cleaner. One day Mrs Johnston gets pregnant with twins, and she doesn't know what to do because she doesn't have enough money to take care of any more children. Mrs Lyons cant have children so a few things happen and Mrs Lyons ends up having one of the twins. A few weeks later Mrs Lyons fires Mrs Johnston just because she doesn't want her to be any where near the baby. This is the first part of the show, so you can tell how this show is actually very serious and touching. The actors who played these two characters did it so well that I already loved Mrs Johnston and hated Mrs Lyons. After this part of the show it skips to 7 years later when the twins have grown up to 7 year olds. The actor who played the twins, Mickey(With Mrs Johnston) and Eddie(With Mrs Lyons) were absolutely outstanding, they made me laugh and also feel like my heart is about to explode. In this part the twins meet each other for the first time and become best friends and also become 'Blood Brothers'. Linda is also introduced in this part of the show. She is the love interest for the twins. Linda is also quite comedic but towards the end she shows a lot more emotions. Later on Mrs Lyons finds out that the twins have met and ends up moving to the country side. (Going to explain it a bit more briefly now) The Johnston end up moving to the country side and about 4 years later the twins meet again and the group of three, Mickey, Eddie and Linda hang out every day. The story goes to them being 18 and Eddie has to leave for university. Linda and Mickey get married. Linda gets pregnant. Mickey looses his job so gets involved with a bad job. This jobs leads him to going to prison for years. This gets him really depressed. Linda asks Eddie to help him out to find a better job and she also goes to him as a friend. Mickey thinks that Eddie stole Linda away so he goes over to him to shoot him. A few things happen and Mrs Lyons tells them that there brothers. This gets Mickey even more annoyed and at the end they both end up dying. Through out the stages of this show a lot happens. The actors really brought each character to life and showed every emotion. At the end of the show I ended up knowing what part I want. I really would like to be Linda. She is such a kind and loving character who really shapes the other characters.
