Week Fifteen

Today was our first day of rehearsals in the theatre. Being in the theatre was so exciting and allowed us to see how a lot of the props look like and what we are going to be working with. We got shown all of the amazing props that my teachers made. The props have already brought the show to life. We had gotten Scenes 1(Golden ticket finders), 2(Bucket scene), 3(Charlie finding the Golden ticket) ,4(Meeting Willy Wonka for the first time) and five( The chocolate room) done in cast one. We had to do a few retakes of each scene because we hadn't rehearsed in a while and had to figure out the staging. The narrators had also added in a few more narrations so they had to go through them.

Today I filmed the elevator scene in the green screen room. This is the scene where Mr Wonka, Charlie Bucket, Grandpa Joe, Mike Teavee, Mr Teavee and Mrs Teavee get into the glass elevator. In this scene all the characters are stressed because they think that the elevator might collide with the other one and Willy Wonka is stressed because he doesn't want Mr Teavee to puke in his hat. We had to do some choreographing for this scene too because the elevator is very wobbly and unsteady. We had to choreograph when we were going to lean and in what direction to go in. We got it in about 3-4 shots so it was really quick. After filming this scene, cast one then did scene 5 again to show some others that weren't there to see it. Cast two had then done rehearsed it. We then switched casts back to one and then went through scene 6. This scene was the boat scene where Charlie spots the different types of doors. We had to take some time on this scene because we had to plan out where the boat was going and when we would say our lines but at the end we all got it done.

Hello, we all have learnt our Oompa-Loompa dances today. In this way we should all be prepared to do them on stage, and with a little bit more practice it will look amazing especially when the makeup, wigs and outfits are on. My Oopma-Loompa dances are for Verruca and Augustus Gloop. I personally really like all the dances and I think that they fit amazing with all the characters. After we had learnt all of our dances we began rehearsing scene 7. This scene is Violets scene in the invention room. In this scene Violets turns into a giant blueberry. I personally believe that this scene is a little humerus because both the actors as Violet and Mrs Beauregarde  are amazing at playing their role and make the role even larger. In this scene we worked on the staging and a lot of whats going on in the background. The last thing we worked on was our facial expressions, but as soon as our teacher had told us to use more expression we all did it right after making the scene a lot better. The facial expressions in this scene are super important because it shows how the character is feeling and also shows the audience how they act. Cast two had also then worked on this scene. Cast two then worked on scene 8 which is Verrucas scene. In this scene Verruca shows her stubbornness and demands to get her own miniature squirrels. When she goes to get one herself the squirrels push her into the rubbish shoot along with her parents. This looked really good from my point of view. I believe that if we work on where Verruca gets attacked it will look even better.

Cast two had rehearsed all day today. This means I was always in the background being an Oompa-Loompa. This allowed me to practise on my reactions and dances as being an oompa-Loompa. Before we started rehearsing we spent the morning working on the set and whoever needed to learn the dances and lines did that. We had then also spent some time giving our Oompa-Loompas a name and some facts about them. I gave my Oompa-Loompa the name Maoam (as in the sweet Maoam). I then said that she likes to spend time with the other Oompa-Loompas and making them happy. I said that her main job was to keep and eye on the chocolate river. Lastly I said that she doesn't like others being sad. With these things that I made up I will now ensure that when I play as an Oompa-Loompa I will make sure to always look bright and make the others happy too. I could do this by helping them out in there jobs. Today My Oompa-Loompa costume has come in! Its a pink tutu, pink leg warmers, pink fish net gloves, pink lightning earrings and 4 different coloured necklaces. Then i'm going to add something that I have at home, such as a sparkly blue leotard from when I used to do gymnastics and brown leggings underneath the tutu since it is see through. I'm trying to go a little crazy as our Oompa-Loompas are meant to just look a tad off and bonkers with all the different colours

Today the actress for violet had also tried on the purple suit on for the first time and it looks amazing! it will look even better when she has all the makeup on.

The lighting has also been coming along very well this week. The lighting in my opinion adds such an affect in setting the scene.

The art department have also been working hard on helping us! they have kindly painted and created many of our set. This is by far my favourite. Its the Opening gates in front of Willy Wonkas chocolate factory.
