Evaluation for Charlie and the chocolate factory
The overall production of Charlie and the chocolate factory, in my opinion was great. I couldn't have done it with anyone else. Everyone, including myself preformed to their fullest, allowing the audience to capture every moment of the show. We had a wonderful crew (All the people in my class, my teachers, Film and TV crew, Art department and all the people who helped with the lighting), who helped us out immensely. Without them the show wouldn't have to come to life. Charlie and the chocolate factory was such a fun show to preform. It had scenes that were serious but also scenes that were hilarious. The set was amazing and brought so much to each and every scene. It was such a creative performance. I'm so glad that I got to experience it!
What I think went well:
I believe that 3/4 shows went really well. I believe that the best thing was our reactions. Every time I would look at someone they all had a huge reaction, that could tell you whats going on in that scene. Another thing that I believe went really well was how well each actor adapted to their character. In some way they made it their own without actually changing it. I find it crazy how much a character can change by who's playing it.
What I think could have gone better:
It's really hard to think of what could have gone better as I believe that we all did are best and that nearly all the shows turned out great. The only show which I believe we could have done better in was the 4pm show on Wednesday, but then we got feedback after the show and we all took it in. Then on the 7pm show later that day we improved it so much that it ended up looking like a totally different show. The things that didn't go too well at the 4pm show were- projection, energy, props and lowered down energy for the Oompa Loompas (as an Oompa Loompas we were to energetic and involved with the visitors where we were meant to be kind of weary of them)
Things that I have learnt through out the show:
The biggest thing that I have learnt, was definitively that I shouldn't be afraid to audition for bigger roles. I didn't really want to audition for Charlie Bucket because I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to cope with a main role, and that I wouldn't be able to remember all the lines. My teachers pushed me to audition for Charlie and I did. I thought that I wouldn't get the role but a while after I ended up finding out that I was casted has him for the show. I was so happy but also soooo nervous, but I knew that my teachers wouldn't have picked me unless they thought that I could do it. Through out the rehearsals I tried my best and put all my effort in. At the end it was all worth it. Now I know that I'm able to do things I thought Id never be able to do.
What I gained from this experience:
The best thing that I got during this production was that I have gained a lot more confidence. This will stop me from aiming to get a main role from every production. It will also help with my stage fright, as I now know that I'm able to preform a large amount of lines and to be on stage for the whole show.
Things that I need to do, to keep improving:
-I will make sure to try and get the part of a main role for each show or film project that we do.
-I'll try to audition for roles that are out of my comfort zone, and different to the roles I have played so far.
Some feedback- The main thing that I was told that I could improve was my projection for the second scene when Charlie Bucket is first presented. This is something I'm definitively going to be working on. I can do this by trying to say a line repeatedly. I could also try it in different accents as I believe that it can really affect it.
