Week Four

 27/09/2021

Today in class we went through scenes 5 & 6 of the witches. I don't have a main role in these scenes so I just acted as an extra witch, but I was able to practise my facial expressions and body movement for it. Its important to learn both the facial expressions and body movement for this scene as they are one of the most important ones. Without the extra witches reactions the scene would be incomplete, as they show the audience how cruel and devious they are, but also how much devotion they have to the grand high witch.

Today in class we learnt different ways to learn our lines such as the beat technique.This is where you separate all your lines in a scene into beats. This is so you can learn them separably until we can say them all. Another technique is recording yourself  saying the whole scene then listening back. You could also just read out the lines before yours so that when you listen to it, you can say out loud your own lines. Another technique is to just read them out loud to yourself in your room until you've learnt them. The last one I learnt was getting help from another person. They would have to read the other characters lines and you have to say yours and if you get it wrong they would say it for you. Today I learnt all of my lines for the 'Tree house witch'. Next I need to try and add movement, facial expressions and tone, so that I can improve the performance.

Today we went through scene 6 again. I was the background witch so I made a story up for my character so that I can base her reactions of off that and it really helped. I decided that my witch had went to school with the grand high witch so now I already know what shes like and what she has already done. This means my reaction needs to be as if I expected it but also look happy and excited at times as they still like her and think that what she does is cool. At the end of the day my class stayed extra as the Drama school 'Lamda' had come in to talk to us. I learned new ways to try and make a monologue easier to act out and remember. The audition to get into it is free so when I go into year 2 i'm going to audition for it, i'm also going to audition because it sounds interesting.

Today in class we were working on on our copy cat scene. We have another actress in the group called Caitlin, who is going to play the role of Mike, which is really helpful as the character I play (Eric) talks to Mike in the scene. Today we found out when the room 244 was available, which was mostly on Thursday, so we are going to start filming our copycat scene next Thursday (07/10/2021). I have also bought my costume for Eric so that I have it ready for when we shoot it. Today I also had my audition for the Christmas murder mystery, which was actually a blast as it was improvisation. The year 2's asked me questions and I had to answer in character ( The bosses daughter). After I was brought back to do a chemistry test with Her father which is going to be played by Dylan in year 2. I then did one with Her partner, which was played by both Megan and Ethan ( Haven't decided who's going to be the partner yet). Over all the auditions/ chemistry tests was fun and something I know I shouldn't worry about when doing a similar audition.
